CBIE 2016 in Ottawa – guard.me annual networking reception

This year at the CBIE Conference in Ottawa, guard.me International Insurance hosted its annual networking reception at the trendy Sidedoor Kitchen and Bar in the Byward Market. The event was a chance for guard.me partners and associates to catch up with colleagues while enjoying internationally inspired entrees, tapas and tacos.

The evening was all about “Making an impact” as guard.me introduced its new mobile DOCTOR program and a new partnership with CANADAVISA. mobile DOCTOR is the first program of its kind to provide immediate and confidential medical attention to international students anytime, anywhere in Canada over the phone and in over 140 languages. When unsure if they should go to a clinic or the emergency department, international students at select institutions can now call mobile DOCTOR for on-the-spot medical advice and a prescription if necessary.

Meanwhile, CANADAVISA offers international students a free online immigration tool, with information on the Canadian immigration process, including visas, study and work permits.

The evening began with the annual meeting of the International Network of Tomorrow’s Leaders (INTL), which selects new professionals every year in the field of international education as recipients of the CBIE Conference Bursary. Funding for the bursaries is provided in part by guard.me to help create an environment for young leaders to cultivate professional networks and engage themselves in the community of international education. For the full list of recipients, see guard.me supports 2016 CBIE Conference Bursary Recipients.
