As 2020 winds down, it might be difficult to be upbeat about a year that has brought so much uncertainty and anxiety. At guard.me, we’ve decided to reflect on the year and focus on the positive moments. And, we’re making the decision to be grateful.
We’re grateful to our team who brought their expertise, compassion, and commitment to work each day to help keep students safe, even while their own lives were being disrupted by COVID-19.
We’re grateful to our partner schools who remained committed to providing higher learning while keeping students healthy and happy.
And, we’re grateful to our students who utilized our guard.meCARES programs and services to help find calm in the storm as they continued their studies.
These programs and services, like our Wellness Learning Webinars, mobileDOCTOR and keep.meSAFE, saw record usage during the pandemic. While we understand this might mean distress among students is at an all-time high, we are thankful that so many students sought guidance, health services and counselling to help them cope during these times. As the holidays approach, it’s important to note that all guard.me tools are available throughout the holiday season when stress levels often increase.
- Providing 24/7 access to mental health support, keep.meSAFE can help students manage mental wellness in their own language, respectful of their cultural and values.
- mobileDOCTOR connects students with doctors, Canada-wide, via phone, tablet or computer so they may not need to visit a walk-in clinic or emergency room.
- Our Wellness Learning and Initiatives offer unique mental health and wellness learning experiences virtually, not just for students but for faculty and staff. Past and upcoming Wellness and Learning Initiatives can be found at https://www.wellnessandlearning.me/news.html
While we know a return to normal will certainly not happen immediately when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, our team of REAL PEOPLE hopes that everyone can find joy in what the future brings as 2021 begins. International travel and study may not be possible right away, but our REAL SOLUTIONS can help us all be more connected, engaged and understanding, no matter what REAL LIFE may bring. Together, with a grateful spirit, we will get through this.
From everyone at guard.me, we wish you health and happiness and a 2021 filled with joy.
