When will I get my insurance card?
Your Healthcare Access Card (HAC) is the digital card you’ll present at clinics or hospitals whenever you need care.
If your academic institution enrolled you in the GuardMe plan, expect to receive a Welcome Email from us within 2 to 4 weeks of your course start date. Remember to check your spam folder.
In case you haven’t received it after 30 days, contact your school directly. Once you get the email, follow the instructions to log into My Account and download your HAC.
If you applied for coverage directly through our website, you’ll get an automatic confirmation email with instructions to log into My Account, where you can access your policy details and download your HAC.
You can also find your HAC in the GuardMe Mobile App: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q23oJ2PCBps
Remember: having your Healthcare Access Card always on hand is essential for you to get care when you need it.

How do I access healthcare in Canada using GuardMe Insurance?
When seeking medical care in Canada with your GuardMe insurance, always have your Healthcare Access Card ready. You can access it through the GuardMe app or carry a printed copy.
Pharmacy: First Option for Minor Ailments
For common minor illnesses, such as colds, flu, allergies, and mild infections, a pharmacist may be able to recommend or prescribe medication, depending on provincial regulations. Check pharmacy guidelines in your province for details.
Mobile Doctor: Virtual Healthcare Option
For minor illnesses or injuries, Mobile Doctor provides fast, virtual access to a doctor or nurse practitioner who can diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, and issue lab requisitions. It’s included in your plan at no extra cost, but you must register first at www.guard.me/mobiledoctor .
Mobile Doctor can typically assist with conditions that do not require in-person testing, such as:
· Cold and flu symptoms
· Coughs and sore throats
· Earaches and sinus infections
· Pink eye
· Urinary tract infections
· Skin issues, excluding acne
· Minor infections
· Vomiting or diarrhea
· Sexual health concerns
Please note that Mobile Doctor may refer you to a walk-in clinic or hospital if in-person care is required.
Walk-In Clinics: In-Person Medical Care
If you prefer to see a doctor in person, walk-in clinics across Canada provide treatment for minor medical conditions. To find a clinic, use the Find a Clinic tool on the GuardMe website: https://guard.me/en/seek-medical-care.html
Before heading to a walk-in clinic, call them ahead and ask if they can bill GuardMe directly or if you'll need to pay up front and submit a claim. Many clinics also require appointments and may be fully booked for the day.
Emergency Room: For Severe Medical Issues
For serious injuries or illnesses, such as broken bones, excessive bleeding, trouble breathing, or severe pain, a hospital emergency room is the best option. ER wait times can be long, as patients are treated based on urgency.
If it is a major emergency and you require an ambulance, call 911 immediately. When visiting the hospital, bring your GuardMe Healthcare Access Card, either in the app or as a printed copy.
Some hospitals can bill GuardMe directly, while others may require you to pay for your visit and submit a claim afterward. Get familiar with the hospitals near you and call ahead to check how billing works in your area.

How can I buy insurance for my dependents (spouse or children)?
Check Eligibility for Your Dependents
You may be able to purchase coverage for your spouse or children online or through your academic institution, after you have received your policy number. To check eligibility for your dependents, visit your school’s GuardMe microsite and refer to the policy wording for age and plan eligibility. Certain restrictions apply.
Some schools also have a limited window for adding dependents, so check the deadline on your school’s GuardMe microsite. You can purchase coverage through the microsite if eligible and within the allowed timeframe. Dependents must meet specific criteria. If you're unsure about your dependents’ eligibility, call GuardMe Customer Care for assistance.
Understand the Costs
You must purchase a separate policy for your dependents, as their insurance does not fall within your coverage. To get a quote, visit your school's GuardMe microsite or GuardMe website and follow the steps outlined there. The cost of the policy will be available at checkout.
When purchasing coverage for a dependent, review the policy wording carefully, as the plan available to your dependents may not be the same as the plan you have.
Customer Care is always here to assist you. If you need help filling out the form, they're just a call away. While they cannot provide pricing over the phone, completing the required steps online will ensure you receive accurate pricing and policy details.
